COVID-19 Assistance Packages & Grant Support

 

The Victorian Government has released a few grants to assist businesses during this latest lockdown. 

Business Costs Assistance Program – Round 2 July Extension  

This grant is to assist small to medium businesses in sectors most affected by the COVID-19 restrictions commencing the 16/07/2021. Businesses that had applied and been approved for funding under the original May-June round of this payment will receive automatic top-up payments and can not apply again. 

The grant will provide $4,800 for eligible businesses. 

Eligibility requirements: 

  • Have an annual Vic payroll of up to $10 million in the 2019-2020 financial year. 
  • Be registered for GST as at 15/07/2021 
  • Hold an ABN number as at 15/07/2021 
  • Be registered with the responsible Federal or state regulator (where required by applicable legislation) 
  • For employing businesses you must also: 
  • Be registered with WorkSafe Victoria 
  • Attest that the business is supporting its workers to access any paid leave entitlements, or that if a person can work from home, to work from home during the July COVID-19 restrictions, and supporting their casual workers where possible. 

Businesses are not eligible if they have previously received support under the following programs: 

  • Business Costs Assistance Program Round wo 
  • Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund 2021 
  • Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund 2021 – July Extension. 

If you think you may be eligible, here is what to do: 

  • Check your business details on the Australian Business Register are correct PRIOR to submitting an application. This includes checking the correct industry classification (ANZSIC class code) linked to your ABN registration correctly captures your primary business activity. 
  • Ensure you have proof of identity documents ready such as a driver’s license, Australian Passport or Medicare Card etc. 
  • Have your WorkCover Employer Number handy (if applicable)

Small Business COVID Hardship Fund 

This grant is to help eligible small and medium businesses that have experienced a reduction in turnover of at least 70%. 

This grant will provide a $10,000 to eligible businesses.  

Eligibility requirements: 

  • Be located within Victoria 
  • Suffer at least a 70% reduction in turnover (total sales) for a minimum consecutive two-week period compared to the same period in 2019 
  • Have been registered for GST as at 28/07/2021 
  • Hold an AABN number from 28/07/2021 
  • Be registered with any relevant Federal or state regulators 
  • For employing businesses, you must also: 
  • Be registered with WorkSafe Victoria 
  • Attest that the business is supporting its workers to access any paid leave entitlements, or that if a person can work from home, to work from home during the July COVID-19 restrictions and supporting their casual workers where possible. 
  • Not have received funding from any other Victorian Government COVID-19 support packaged launched on or after 27/05/2021.
